"Do I have to read him Miranda?"

Miranda warnings must be read only in situations where the suspect is in custody and being questioned by public law enforcement or someone acting as their agent.

Private sector investigators not acting as an agent of the police do not have to advise the suspect of his Miranda warnings. There may be special circumstances and practices that would require the warnings be given, but as a general rule it is required only if there is police custody and questioning. Remember to know the laws in your state as well as any requirements detailed by the local prosecutor.
